Hard to imagine, but it's been more than a year since my notorious crying and crying and crying. (Yes, I realize the last entry was about sobbing in the classroom. But at least it wasn't regarding school). It has been a long, but exciting year. Teaching is much like studying: The more you do it, the more you realize how much you still need to know. And, it's ultimately rewarding, but often painful in the process.
And so with that, I hope readers check out my new blog for Teacher Magazine called On the Reservation. I will be posting primarily on that blog, but occasionally adding excerpts and pictures on east meets west. Stay tuned.
you don't look 15. in fact i was just thinking how adultlike you look in your nice lil necklace picture; good luck with everything; i know you're doing awesome. =) i'm jealous of everything you're experiencing and learning! =)

Hey, I've really enjoyed reading you blog! I a senior in college and am from the Washinton D.C. area as well. I just recently submitted my TFA application if I advance to the interview round, I am strongly considering listing New Mexico as a strongly perfered placement region. As of now, my other main choice would be Washington D.C.--the polor opposit of NM in terms of ubran/rural, close to home/far from home etc. I'm sure you're very busy, but I'd love to talk with you sometime about your TFA experience in NM and what your thoughts are on living and teaching there.
I hope your second year has started out well!
