There is nothing quite like watching a meaty 15-year-old who has a penchant for punching and profanity curl his shoulders up to hide his giggles as he realizes that, yes, syllabication works for him. He can use open and closed syllable rules to read "nic" and "bu" and sound out made-up words like "igob".
I almost cried. The kid is 15 and couldn't recite his vowels when I first met him. This isn't why I teach for America. This is why I'm going to crawl out of bed tomorrow and face yet another day of bad words, bad attitudes and bad handwriting.
aw shucks thats cute.
you didn't mention my bday either.. you texted me happy bday... yay for being a good sister! *thumbs up*

I love those moments...when you realize you do have a reason to get out of bed and go back in there. I keep a list of them, and while it might be short, it gets me up and into my room in the mornings...and there are days I need some help.

Jessica, I would have to definitely agree with you. Keep it up. Though you say this is not why you teach for america, I DEFINITELY think that is why we have this organization.
