Thank you Jessica,
I have just spent the past hour reading through your writings because I hadn’t looked at them since October. I’m sure there is something else I probably should be doing. In fact, I know there is. I have an action plan listing all that I need to accomplish this morning, but instead I find myself unable to pull away from your writing. This was not just because it is well written and interesting (which of course it is), but because of the inspiration it provided me with.
I’m not patient. I want to see all the inequalities in our education system that are holding our students back changed now and so I sometimes become frustrated with the slow rate of change. Reading your writings reminded me of why it is that I work for Teach For America. You so vividly describe the struggles and joys of a first year teacher and I know that there are thousands of corps members across the country having those same experiences and putting their hearts and souls into giving their students the best education they can and thousands more alumni whose lives have been influenced by those experiences. Maybe, just maybe one day all children in this nation will have the opportunity to have an excellent education because there are people like you out there who will never be able to forget the life changing experience of teaching in schools such as Ch’ooshgai and the unfairness of a system that cheats such vibrant and amazing children out of their future life choices by not giving them the education and skills they deserve.

:o) That's it.
